Born on the Isle of Wight, I have enjoyed painting for as long as I can remember. The Island's naturally picturesque landscape has been a powerful source of artistic inspiration and local scenes feature strongly in my work. Virtually self-taught, I paint in oils often from life in an attempt to add as much atmosphere to my paintings as possible. I feel this has taught me to work quicker and has improved my drawing and observational skills dramatically. Always keen to try new approaches and styles, I enjoy attending painting on location workshops and life drawing classes.
I exhibit regularly with Cowes Art Group and take part in the Isle of Wight Open Studios weekend. This year, for the first time I have been invited to exhibit with Bembridge Beaux Arts.
I am inspired mostly by the Impressionist style of painting, but also admire the work of contemporary artist Jack Vettriano.
